Is sushi gluten free?

Sushi. It seems like such an easy gluten-free meal choice, however it includes a lot of concealed pitfalls.

I go back and forth with it. When I first went gluten-free in 2011 I relied greatly on the Japanese delicacy, and the one roll at the one sushi dining establishment that I had vetted. Note: Consuming as a whole was quite boring during that time. I was afraid of everything.

Is sushi gluten free? As I discovered the ropes of my brand-new diet and was shut off a bit after a bad response at a brand-new dining establishment, I hardly ever ate sushi for a while. After spending a week in Japan last fall, it fell back into favor with me. Actually, I believe I simply decided exactly what's for dinner tonight.

Back to those pitfalls.

There's a lot more to consuming gluten-free sushi than preventing soy sauce (however please do not eat the soy sauce). Gluten is concealed in everything from the sushi itself, to the sauces that top it, to the kick of heat we add to it.
